Final Fusion

The clash of the kaiju

Lore. Final Fusion is a generic Trap: when a Fusion Monster you control battles an opponent's Fusion Monster, it negates the attack and makes both players take damage equal to the sum of their ATK. It is born in the anime and becomes a real card only in 2014: it is released in North America in Dragons of Legend, and arrives in Japan a few weeks later. Its Japanese name, 決戦融合, means "fusion of the decisive battle". In the artwork two giant monsters face each other above a city at night, as in a kaiju film, cut by two crossed searchlight beams: on the right a serpent-like dragon that recalls Cyber Dragon, without being a faithful copy of it, on the left Ultimate Tyranno, Hassleberry's dinosaur.

Anime. In Yu-Gi-Oh! GX it is the last card of the graduation duel between Zane and Jaden, at the end of the first season. Zane's Cyber End Dragon, raised to 36,900 ATK, attacks Jaden's Elemental HERO Shining Flare Wingman. Jaden answers with Final Fusion: the sum of the two attacks, 57,800 damage, wipes out both players' Life Points, and the duel ends in a draw.
